GRC Power Hour is NOT an all-women-club

The article in Angew. Chemie on ''Organic synthesis–Where now?'' was published on the website of Angewandte Chemie as an ''Accepted Article''. The article expressed offensive views about women and other underrepresented groups in science. Most noticeably, comments on the GRC Power Hour were made. Let's see, this is a common societal effort of MEN & WOMEN scientists trying to break prejudices ! At High Pressure Power Hour, we have EVERYONE speaking, because THIS Is a problem of society, not just women.

Beamline scientist position at EMA/Sirius !

The EMA beamline intends to allow experiments of several techniques, such as x-ray diffraction, x-ray spectroscopy and X-ray imaging, subjecting samples to extreme pressure, temperature and magnetic field conditions. For this scientific position, the selected candidate is expected to develop his own research connected with the possibilities open with the Sirius’s Extreme Conditions Line

ETSF Young Researchers' Meeting

The ETSF Young Researchers' Meeting (YRM) is an annual workshop for non-permanent scientists (mainly postdocs and PhD students) working in the field of theoretical electronic structure of real materials. It addresses challenges and recent development in the theory (density-functional, many-body theory, model systems) and in the methods (molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, code development in general). The ETSF YRM is a unique chance for young researchers to present their work to an international audience where scientific discussions are encouraged by a friendly atmosphere.

February 2016: An introduction to High Pressure book published !

"An incredibly rich guide for postgraduate students and scientists of any age and experience approaching the high-pressure world. The book is a perfect mix of theory and experimental practice, providing a well-referenced and up-to-date overview of most of the different facets characterizing high-pressure science."

-Roberto Bini, Professor of Chemical-Physics, University of Florence

This year GRC High Pressure instaures the "Power Hour"

The GRC Power Hour is designed to help address the challenges women face in science.

This session is an hour long, informal gathering open to all meeting participants and is held 3:00-4:00 pm on Monday during the afternoon free time. The Power Hour is intended to support the professional growth of women in our communities and provide an open forum for discussion and mentoring.
