The talk will review the concepts of chirality and aromaticity along the following storyline:

1. A 160 year journey taken through the history of organic chemistry from 1 → 2 → 3 (→ 4?) dimensions.
2. How a unification of the concepts of aromaticity and chirality was gradually established?
3. How one of Kekulé's ideas in 1872 took on a new life in 2014?
4. In the process revealing a curious (unsolved?) problem.
