Two-state reactivity paradigm plays a significant role in transition-metal containing catalysts. The following reactions will be treated:
- Cr, CrO, CrO2 cations + CH4
- Fe, Fe2 cations + CH4
- cyclotrimerization of acetylene with Nb and Nb/MgO
- direct insertion of O2 into the Pt-H bond
- NO3- reduction by nitrate reductase
