Progress with density functional description of van der Waals forces

During a previous visit to LCT in 1997 the author talked about van der Waals
(dispersion) forces from a density functional viewpoint. Although
there is still not a fully practical solution to this problem, there has
been some progress which will be reviewed in this talk.
